The Momentus XT is a 7200 rpm low power Laptop SSHD (Solid State Hard Drive). The XT is one of the early SSHD models and at nearly four years of age it's now over the hill and struggles to keep up with newer drives. With peak sequential speeds in the region of 100 MB/s the Momentus is approximately 70% slower than the current group leaders. Most SSHDs offer relatively good small file 4K read and write performance but that isn't the case for the Momentus XT which only averages 0.6 MB/s in the random 4K tests. There are far better alternatives currently available for the same money. [Jan '14 HDrivePro]

Below average average bench

this is a very miss understood HDD (SSHD) , if your using your computer for day to day stuff this is nearly as good as a SSD, most users who access a laptop or even desktop most disk use is read and that is what this HDD is for, 8GB flash cache is Plenty to let the drive auto cache your most used part of the disk and the best thing its automatic no drivers needed as it works at the low level so you do not have to think about it the disk learns it self, I typically only use Seagate SSHD as you can get them for £52 New, other places New typically £60, can be from £30-£50 used (why push the price up on ebay to a price you can buy it for new is silly), Toshiba also do SSHD as well (who knew, random Seagate SSHD search randomly pop up as Toshiba SSHD result but they go for £60-70 so to much for me to use as a replacement HDD for customers)—Sep '14
