Average Bench: 98.3% (66th of 714)

Based on 254,908 user benchmarks.  Device: 1002 731F Model: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

Out of the box the reference 5700 XT has high burst speeds but under load it overheats and therefore drops frames to the extent that it is more or less unusable for demanding games like PUBG. In order to settle the card it was under volted by 120 mV and the maximum clock was lowered to 1,980 MHz (the stock BIOS and 19.9.1 driver defaulted the card to 2,030 MHz). The fan curve also had to be turned up to around 50% power at 75 degrees (which is a lot noisier than stock). After making these changes the card delivered far more consistent performance albeit with a reduced top speed and unacceptable (hair dryer) levels of noise. There were also incompatibilities with GTAV: enabling reflection MSAA resulted in very poor, almost matt, reflection fidelity (the same bug appeared on several Navi and Vega cards). The reference 5700 XT is great for beating cherry picked benchmarks, but it is not so great for playing games. Thousands of people, duped by sponsored marketing material, purchased the reference card expecting flagship performance, instead they got a shopping trolley with a V6 engine. It appears that the same marketing tactics were employed for the reference Vega 56 and 64 series of graphics cards which we will purchase for our gaming lab and generate effective Fps gaming metrics as soon as possible (results here). AMD appear to have very short term marketing strategists at the helm, they seem more concerned with this years bonuses than the longevity of the brand. [Jul '19 GPUPro]

Works fine- until it doesn't. I have tried feverishly to fix the random green screen and black screen crashes- to no avail. The most I've been able to do is reduce the frequency of the crashes. I literally can not even play valorant because it crashes my computer after being in a game for one second. Like legitimately, one second.—Jan '21

Horrible purchase, will never buy another AMD graphics card. Bought mine 3 years ago and it's been 3 years of (hell) computer stuttering and horrible looking graphics. I don't think some people realize that having an AMD graphics card versus having an Nvidia graphics card means your game can look entirely different. Drivers really go the mile and AMD is a fat kid in PE class.—Oct '22

n mediocre, even for AMD standards. If you REALLY need an AMD GPU, make sure you get one like the Sapphire Pulse's version for airflow and to avoid overheating. The marketing team can say that it's "normal this gpu reaches 100°C" all day long, we all know they're just lying.

Second time and last time I buy AMD. Screen goes green and soon as you stress the card a bit, not doing insane thing, just playing Warhammer 2 on high setting with 300 units on screen was enough, or running any sort of benchmark. At least I got a refund but only due to cheer luck of buying it online with escrow.—Jul '21

The only problem with this card is some crashes which can be very frustrating at times, and its all cause AMD Drivers.

The card needs some tuning for its true potential. 1900Mhz @ 1.0v with a 50% power limit makes the card run exceptional. Not for the less savy users.

I have the XFX Thicc edition XT, and while it performs well, I had a DOA and needed to return and order another one. What ATI (XFX?) seem to lack is quality control. I used to have very dependable XFX cards from the 7700 -era which were still functioning last year, despite the many years of abuse I have put them through. My complaint is the size of this card is giant and it sags, but otherwise it's a monster and requires at least 700W PSU to stay on the safe side.

Excellent

I love it and it gives me the fps I want

Poor

Lots of power, lots of issues. While the RX5700XT is probably unbeatable for sheer computing power per dollar right now, the horrible, ancient drivers make the cards unbearable to use. I was getting massive tearing when using FreeSync, and the display driver frequently crashed. The fan design isn't nearly as bad / noisy as it's sometimes made out to be tough.
