The 1TB 7200.14 has an average UBM sequential read/write speed of 147 MB/s, which is a superb result, especially for a budget drive. Looking at a comparison between the 7200.12 vs 7200.14 shows that the more recent 7200.14 was a huge improvement over the 7200.12. The 7200.12 has average sequential read/write speeds of 97/91 vs 161/155 MB/s on the newer 7200.14. Additionally the small file 4K read/write speeds of 0.62/1.32 are improved upon by over 25% on the newer version. Overall there is no contest between the two drives and considering that they are similarly priced, the newer 7200.14 is the clear winner.
