The new 3TB Seagate Barracuda 2016 (ST3000DM008) replaces its hugely successful predecessor, the 3TB Barracuda 7200.14 2011 (ST3000DM001). Comparing performance between the two models shows that the newer drive has 12% faster sequential speeds, comparable 4K speeds, improved mixed sequential speed and reduced mixed 4K speed. Overall, the effective speed is 12% faster on the 2016 model. Since there is normally little price difference between the two models the 2016 version is the clear winner especially for use as a backup drive with its impressive sequential read and write speeds of nearly 200 MBps. I hate it Seagate Barracuda 3TB (2016 ım like is 2019 models 3tb dsik

Poor

I bought this new HDD for all my data accumulated in 15 years. Almost 2T of data. I have a lot of data types: zip, office, eml, rar, pdf, mod, waw, mov, png, jpg, etc, etc.... Smoothly transferred all data . I dont received any failure yet. I hope will not in future! :)

Have it since 2018. 15536 thousand hours so far, no problems. Strong as a bullet!

Everyone talks about the matter depending on how they fared. Of course, if you were satisfied, you'll give a good opinion about the product. Otherwise, your note won't be good at all. As far as my experience goes with my BarraCuda Compute 3TB (ST3000DM008), it has been behaving perfectly (intermitent use, as it's used as a backup data disc) for almost two years. Of course, I don't know what would happen if it was used as the main HD disc.

Favorite of the data recovery services. Shat itself, with all my data... the cheapest recovery offer was 10-20 times of the drive's price...

32% failure rate for 3 year operation

Poor

With, after under four years of not so intensive use in a Synology DS413J NAS, a failure rate of 100% for the two Seagate ST3000DM001 drives I used in it , it is safe to say that this Barracuda series was a total disaster as is also seconded by many internet testimonials. So whether this drive was the fastest or not is totally irrelevant if it proves to be as unreliable as it is. Needles to say I think that I didn't replace them by other Seagate drives. The Hitachi 3TB drives I'm also using in the same NAS ran (an still run !) consistently cooler. Shame on you Seagate.

Terrible

Get the 1TB Barracude instead as the 3TB uses shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technology which can exhibit slow data write speeds and is unreliable too

 Frequently Asked Questions

 Best User Rated

Why does UserBenchmark have a bad reputation on reddit?
Marketers operate thousands of reddit accounts. Our benchmarks expose their spiel so they attack our reputation.
Why don’t PC brands endorse UserBenchmark?
Brands make boatloads on flagships like the 4090 and 14900KS. We help users get similar real-world performance for less money.
Why don’t youtubers promote UserBenchmark?
We don't pay youtubers, so they don't praise us. Moreover, our data obstructs youtubers who promote overpriced or inferior products.
Why does UserBenchmark have negative trustpilot reviews?
The 200+ trustpilot reviews are mostly written by virgin marketing accounts. Real users don't give a monkey's about big brands.
Why is UserBenchmark the gold standard for users?
Instead of pursuing brands for sponsorship, we've spent 13 years publishing real-world data for users.
