This is the current version (2013) of Western Digital's best performing, Black, consumer storage drive. A comparison between the 2013 and 2010 versions shows that core real world performance has improved by around 15%. The 38 month old 2010 FAEX Black is also slightly more expensive at the moment, probably because retailers are slowly running out of stock. With average sequential read/write speeds of 150 MB/s and read/write 4k speeds of 0.8/2.9 MB/s the 2013 2TB WD Black has a solid performance profile but it's slightly overpriced. Very responsive about playing games in it as a backup HDD, but for the system is not so bad as well... I got CrystalDiskInfo to check about the temperature and It's always between 30 and 34°C , separated in 3 partitions.

Wonderful drive, quite stable, and while it may not be the fastest, it is hard to argue with a 5 year warranty. (which for the most part is not mentioned on the comparisons.)—Sep '14

2 of those running in a NAS 24/7 for two years. No problems whatsoever. I wouldn't put it in a desktop, however, these things are noisy by today's standards.
