This is the latest version of Western Digital's mid-range Blue drive. At only one year of age this drive is relatively new and the performance figures reflect this. With maximum sequential speeds of 180 MB/s (both read and write) the Blue is amongst the faster drives currently available and in terms of real world performance it beats its predecessor the 2010 Blue (WD10EALS) by around 18%. The 2012 Blue has a single 1TB platter which combined with its 7200 rotation speed allow for above average performance across the board. In terms of value for money a larger capacity drive will nearly always be a better choice but within the 1TB category as a system drive, the 2012 Blue is a very reasonable, if not the best, option. [Jan '14 HDrivePro]

This drive I feel is very solid. While not fast enough to capture 1080p 60fps video (with Fraps), it is a definite upgrade over my WD caviar green (WD10EADS). —Sep '14

Excellent

Great priced HDD, stable, quiet, fast.

Poor

My system is still very responsive, even without a ssd.

Good

I don't know why many people thinks the drive is very fast, very good, etc. But one thing that i didn't expect to see is when i start copying big data to one to another drive and do reading like opening apps, ex:doc, ppt. Things start to be stuttered. I can't do things on my computer comfortably when copying big data on this drive. Sure it can handle high speed write/read. But not in the same time. Even cheaper WD5000AVDS can handle read and write simultaneously, although it's slower compared to WD10EZEX

Poor

Really fast 1TB HDD. Up to 210MB/s read speed and 190MB/s write speed can be compared to the cheapest SSDs.

too loud and vibrating very much :(

I have that hdd in my desktop and i pretty fast and quality.

Luckily there's a lot of competition between WD and Seagate or else the price wouldn't be as low as it is. Expect prices to drop for HDD's continuously over the next several months as SSD's become more superior. I've had this in countless builds, never fails.

Exactly what you should anticipate. Works well, seemingly durable.

Its a HDD. But in RAID so far it gets almost double the speed
