The 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 was superseded by the Barracuda 7200.14 just ten months after the 7200.12's release. Looking at a comparison between the 7200.12 vs 7200.14 shows that the more recent 7200.14 was a huge improvement over the 7200.12. The 7200.12 has average sequential read/write speeds of 97/91 vs 161/155 MB/s on the newer 7200.14. Additionally the small file 4K read/write speeds of 0.62/1.32 are improved upon by over 25% on the newer version. Overall there is no contest between the two drives and considering that they are similarly priced, the newer 7200.14 is the clear winner. This hard drive works and perfroms outstandingly. It is nice to have 1TB of storage at a low price like this. I highly recommend this hard drive to anyone, gaming or workspace.
