Has SMR(Shingled) and MTC. With both of those it moves your data around on the disk (even data that was written long ago and not touched by the OS/you), this increases the chance of data loss (a little? 2x? 5x+? Who know, it depends on where your data is on the disk and as a result how often the drive decided to move/re-write it) This drive does have a flash(SSD) cache, but still only 8GB. Does it utilize this as a write cache since it has to move big chunks of data (just so it can be re-written)? The only thing this drive has over ST1000DX001 is price. But that's because they are selling you a cheaper drive that is slower under a lot of circumstances. (massively slower in certain semi-less common cases -- like copying semi-large amounts of data to the drive, or installing a game/software with a large disk footprint)

Decent SSHD that I was able to use for about a year before switching to an SSD.
