The WD Re is an enterprise grade Hard Drive which is able to handle up to 550 TB of data transfers per year. The Re drive has a solid performance profile but it only matches its significantly cheaper WD Black desktop counterpart. Both the Black and the Re have five year warranties and both drives are available in capacities up to 4TB. Comparing the 2013 2TB WD Black and the 3TB Re shows that the two drives have a similar performance profiles with effective speeds of around 130 MBps. Considering that the equivalent capacity black is around 15% cheaper there is, unsurprisingly, little incentive for most consumers to consider the enterprise Re. [Oct '14 HDrivePro]
